Sydney’s Best & Recommendations – Mick’s Five Inside!

Well, Sydney started this week a bit wet and wild ⛈️ and the outlook is warm but expect a mix of sunshine and rain.

As this is the forecast I have you covered with some indoor and outdoor alternatives.

1. Looking for an Egg & Bacon Bagel in Sydney?

Located at 333 George Street, near Wynyard Regiment is a conveniently located and a highly rated Café that serves breakfast, brunch and lunch Monday to Friday each week.

I said bagel 😃 yes Regiment serves up their bacon and double egg with cheese, pickled onion and hot sauce on a bagel - so New York, right here in Sydney!!

Breakfast options include sourdough, miche, bagels or gluten free bread - poached eggs, avocado, smashed avo, wild mushrooms, provolone and double smoked ham. The brunch menu is expanded to include a poke bowl and a couple of salad choices with added proteins like tuna or chicken. Lunch tops up the options to include three filled bagels such vegetarian, poached chicken and wagyu beef.

Open 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

2. Named after a notorious crime boss - must be a great bar!

Self described as Sydney’s sly wine bar down a Darlinghurst Lane, Love Tilly Devine does not disappoint.

The drinks list is huge, nothing less than an enormous assortment given the “tip of the hat” to the sly-grog lady herself. All catered for including; cocktails, aperitifs, spirits, beer, cider, sparkling wine, Champagne, Riesling, sauvignon blanch, Semillon, Pinot Gris, Chablis, Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot and a host of other French, Italian and Spanish grape types and blends. 27 pages of sly grog 😁

Food, as an accompaniment, is slanted towards Italian; olives, salumi, burrata, pork, tuna, chicken, pasta, salads and cheeses.

The punters have given the “love” to Love Tilly Devine with a 4.5 Google star rating 🤩

Located at 91 Crown Lane, Darlinghurst and open Monday through Saturday from 5pm until midnight. Happy hour 5:00 to 6:00pm each day. To avoid disappointment book online

3. Movies on one of the worlds biggest movie screens 🎬️

Get together with a partner, friend or a bigger group and experience movies on the third largest screen in the world, Imax Sydney

You will find some of the biggest blockbusters soon screening at Imax including; Captain America, Disney’s Snow White, A Minecraft Movie, Sinners, Thunderbolts, Mission Impossible, How to Train Your Drago, F1 and Superman.

Given IMAX is all about big they also have huge options for seating including private boxes, couples recliners and single recliners, over and above the very comfortable regular seating.

Tickets start from $40 (+ booking fees) for adults or $65 for a recliner. And like all good cinemas lots of options for snack and drinks or the premium dining food and drinks. Tickets can be purchased online

4. Newly upgraded facilities for this harbour beach 🏖️

Cool off with a swim at Shark Beach (that is why they have the shark nets), lay a picnic blanket under the trees, grab refreshments at the café, or take a short walk and enjoy views of Sydney Harbour, Nielsen Park is back following renewal of the seawall.

There is plenty of shaded picnic area so bring your blanket and esky choc full of food and drinks for a day out on this famous harbour beach.

Finding parking on weekends is normally a challenge. If you can take the bus (325) then I highly recommend you do so.

5. They have been clamouring to get into this restaurant 🍽️

Clam Bar, named as a bar but actually a brilliant restaurant.

Food glorious food and do they have a great curated menu including; “Raw Bar” - caviar, oysters, California roll, ceviche, crudo and the Seafood Tower. Appetizers will dazzle with parker house rolls, anchovy toast, steak tartare, crab cakes, hot collars and calamari. Main courses cover steak, fish, lamb and pasta seafood. Sides are delicious including the thick cut bacon.

The Google reviewers love this restaurant awarding it a 4.5 stars. Michael’s review captures the magic “… The food, the staff, the atmosphere, the comfort and even the music playlist were perfectly synced to make for an incredibly fab dinner. Every dish we ordered lived up to and surpassed expectations…”

Located at 44 Bridge Street, Sydney (corner of Bridge and Young Street), super close to Circular Quay.
