New Bars, Secret Events & Outdoor Fun – Start Your Week Right!
Well after the Waratah’s win over the Brumbies 🏉 on Saturday night (break of a 13 match losing streak) it will definitely be a great week.
Today I have got you covered with a caffeine high, brilliant 130 year old bar, comedy, some outdoor exercise and a sure fire winner in a stylish steakhouse.
1. A light-filled cafe serving single origin espresso ☕️
Started 22 years ago, Pablo and Rusty’s is named after the brothers-in-law of the founder, Saxon Wright. The punters come for the coffee and stay for the food plus the vibe.
Breakfast is served from open to 11:30am and has the regular menu items but I must say the smoked salmon bagel is the top item on the menu.
The lunch menu is served from 11:30am until close. if you like fish then you cannot go past the red snapper with smoked salmon cream cheese, vegetables, black quinoa and chilli oil.
Scoring a 4.3 Google rating, the customers love it. Corey sums it up in his review “…Without fail, Pablo and Rusty's Sydney has become my go-to spot whenever I'm in the vicinity. The service is swift without compromising on exceptional quality, making every visit a delight.…”
Located at 161 Castlereagh Street, Sydney Open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 2:30pm serving breakfast and lunch.
2. 1893 Victorian-style bar with a marble and mahogany interior 🍸️
The Marble Bar, under the Hilton Hotel on George Street is a Sydney institution.
The Marble Bar is a heritage-listed underground bar and music venue. Built in in the former Adams Hotel in 1893, the Victorian structure was dismantled, transported and reassembled in Hilton Sydney in 1973. More recently the bar was renovated in 2005.
Monday to Saturday there is live music from around 7:00 to 11:00pm ranging from Pop to Soul and R&B. The “Marble Hour” is the happy hour for patrons which runs 4:00 to 6:00pm on Monday to Wednesday with $20 signature cocktails and $12 for draught beers, house wines and spirits.
Located at Level B1, Hilton Hotel, 488 George Street, Sydney and open Monday to Saturday from 4:00pm until late.
3. Need some comedy? Get it FREE at "Fitz of Laughter" 😆
The Old Fitzroy Hotel holds Fitz of Laughter on Monday nights through March.
Tonight New Zealand comedian, Jake Howie is making his appearance, along with Josh Khoury, Gemma Urban and MC Danielle Walker. And yes the tickets are FREE and the beer is at pub prices 😄
You can also grab dinner at the pub - two or three courses starting at $45 per person.
The Old Fitzroy Hotel is located at 129 Dowling Street, Woolloomooloo.
The show runs from 7:00 to 9:30pm and to ensure you get a seat get your FREE tickets via the website
4. You wont see Prez Trump on this walking track 🚶
The America Bay walking track is located in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and yes I can assure you that Prez Trump will not been seen out and about anywhere near this beautiful destination.
Described as a moderately difficult is this 1.8 kilometres return walk which should take around 90 minutes to complete.
America Bay walking track is in the West Head and Basin precincts of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. To get there, follow West Head Road off McCarrs Creek Road. Parking is available on West Head Road in a small gravel carpark at the start of the track.
Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen and some water. Please note that parking fees apply.
5. Chop Chop I say 🍽️
The Chophouse Sydney is what you might guess, an upmarket and vey pleasant steakhouse in Sydney.
Appetiser options include; Sydney rock oysters, crab on toast, scallops, kingfish, calamari, Terrine and steak tartare. The terrine and grilled calamari were excellent 😄
Main course options are dominated by various cuts and grades of beef but they also have the lamb, John Dory, cheeseburger and a gnocchi. Sides to accompany the main include the usual chips, glazed carrots, iceberg lettuce and brussel sprouts plus broccolini options.
The crazy thing is I chose the lamb chops rather than the steak options for my main course. Cooked as I like it, they do ask at the time of order, and served with a mushroom sauce.
Rachel sums up the Chophouse in her Google review “… I had a beautiful dining experience at Chophouse Sydney. Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. he went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and his recommendations were spot on.…”
Located at 25 Bligh Street, Sydney and open Monday to Friday 12:00 noon until 9:00pm and Saturday for dinner from 5:30 to 9:30pm.
Bookings are recommended and can be done via the website or by calling the team on 02 9231 5516
Thanks for reading! Catch you again on Thursday.
Cheers and beers,
