Sydney’s Hidden Gems to Kickstart Your Week

I have been doing the digging for gems ♦️ for you. I must say I even surprised myself this week. I hope you are too happy with the chosen café, bar, restaurant, walk and choice of entertainment.

Don’t forget to circulate the newsletter to your nearest and dearest, we enjoy spreading the love 😍

1. A true 5 star café - get on down to Woolloomooloo ⭐️

The Bohaus Café on Cathedral Street, Woolloomooloo has a perfect score of 5 stars from 104 reviews. They are also located in Alexandria, Coogee and Matraville but none of their siblings rates a perfect score 😉

Russell sums it up perfectly in his Google review “Incredible! Such nice service and everything clean and spotless. The food is delicious and the coffee is amazing. On nice days the door is open and some fresh air flowing in, my favourite hidden gem in Sydney”.

Drop in to see the team at Bohaus Café in Woolloomooloo and tell them how many O’s are in their suburb name … they will be impressed if you can answer that question 😆

2. Why go on an African Safari when you can have a Champagne Safari 🍾

Party like it’s 1949 is their motto - got to love The Roosevelt. And they have a champagne safari cocktail 🍸️

Located at 32 Orwell Street, Potts Point The Roosevelt is more than a WW2 cocktail bar, which first opened in 1943. It has a colourful history having been owned by Abe Saffron from 1947 and was eventually shut down following a Royal Commission enquiry. Luckily for us it was reopened under new management in 2012.

They offer a good range of quality meals to accompany your favourite beverages. They also hold Cocktail and Whisky Masterclasses and you can book a private function in the hidden Poker Room or the Monroe Room.

Trading hours vary from Monday through Sunday, check the website for details or make a booking.

3. Don't be confused - get bamboozled in The Bamboozle Room 😃

The Bamboozle Room hosts a burlesque comedy and cabaret dinner show. Located in The Potts Point Hotel it is in the centre of the action.

The Bamboozle Room: Dinner and Show at ‘Talk and Tease’! Offers a dynamic lineup of modern and traditional burlesque, cabaret, and comedy as well as a delicious two-course dinner. Prices start at $130.

It scores and Google rating of 4.8 stars. Mel sums up the experience perfectly with her review “Do not sleep on this hidden gem!! The service is phenomenal, the show is incredible and the food and drinks will blow your mind if it isn’t already blown from the sophistication and fun that oozes from the bamboozle room. It’s definitely the best in Sydney, no question!!

If you are feeling cheeky and want a laugh then get in quick to avoid disappointment.

4. 90 minutes of nooks and crannies 🚶‍♀️

That is 90 minutes of walking around The Rocks nooks and crannies, not nooks and grannies 😆

The Rocks Walking Tours is an excellent way for you to get in your exercise whilst learning about the deep history of The Rocks in Sydney. They have daily guided tours starting at 10:30am and 1:30pm with adult prices at $40 and a maximum 20 people per tour. You will be blown away by how much history is crammed into such a small part of Sydney.

Bookings are via their website, visit here to get your tickets.

5. Who doesn't like a Catalan Pork Sausage 🐖

The Percy story is said best by them “… PERCY captures the simplicity and joy of Spanish dining with a snack-heavy selection of tapas, ideal for sharing and suited to any occasion ... PERCY blends the rich history of Hotel Woolstore 1888 with the energy of a modern tapas bar, celebrating Spanish cuisine and Woolstore 1888’s legacy to create a memorable experience where history meets contemporary flair”.

If you have been to Barcelona you will appreciate the great Catalan tapas served with a vermouth - they have lots for you to sample.

Happy hour is every Tuesday to Saturday form 3 - 5pm when they have a special Pintxos, sherry, vermouth and wine menu.

Thanks for reading!

Cheers and beers,

Mick
