Monday Buzz: Top Spots to Explore in Sydney This Week
After a weekend recharge we can charge into the week 😆
Whilst it is school holidays the commute to work has been a breeze. Plenty of space on the roads, trains and buses to get to the job with little to no stress.
As always we have a variety of interesting things for you this week including a heads up on for a big Sydney harbour event in February.
1. Slip into “At Neutral” and get fuel to get into first gear ☕️
For our Northern readers and their visiting friends, our featured café is just over the bridge in the busy Neutral Bay.
At Neutral, love the name, is located at 9 Rangers Road, Neutral Bay and pulls a very respectable Google rating of 4.6 stars. A great result given the amount of competition in the bay.
The scrambled eggs with pecorino and bacon is my go to for breakfast. The coffee is first class and the staff very friendly and accommodating.
Open from 5:30 / 6:30 am seven days a week with closing at 2:30 pm.
2. New Years Resolution - lose some weight? Then get into Slims Rooftop Bar 🍷
Ok, you wont get slim at Slims Rooftop Bar but you certainly will have a smile on your face 😄
The food menu is a cut above pub grub with shared plates of kingfish ceviche, peking duck pancakes, pork gyoza, karaage chicken poke bowls and big plates such as the sizzling Japanese steak and a few upmarket burger options. On the drinks menu you wont be disappointed by the signature and classic cocktails or Slims margaritas.
Slims Brunch Club is a must do. Brunch is on Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon & 1pm. Each booking is 2 hours and at the timing of writing is $90 per person and includes; guacamole, salmon avo sushi, beef skewer salad, tempura prawn, corn rib, chicken katsu slider and fries washed down with bottomless pinot grigio, rose, prosecco, tap beer or cider.
Located on top of Hyde Park House at 49 William Street Darlinghurst, opening hours are 11:00 am to midnight Monday through Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. Bookings can be made via the website.
3. Cinema in a Laneway ! And it is also free @ The Rocks 🎦
Laneway Cinema at The Rocks is on every Wednesday from 6 November 2024 to 26 March 2025, subject to weather.
In January they are screening comedy movies including; Hot Fuzz, Clueless and Casper. Pull up a bean bag or deck chair and enjoy a great move in the open air.
Laneway Eats is available to ensure you don’t go hungry. The Hickson House Pop Up is also available for a “cheeky bevvy”. See the website for further information.
Tickets are available on Monday for the following Wednesday movie screening. Checkout the website - click “Find Out More”.
4. Heard of SailGP? It is adrenaline fueled races and it is coming to Sydney ⛵️
SailGP arrives in Sydney on 8 & 9 February 2025 and it is Event 3 of the 12 events held across the globe this year.
The racing is the fastest you will see on water hitting speeds of over 100 kms per hour. The boats are huge catamarans that spend most of their time racing on the foils with their hulls out of the water.
For a taste of what will be on offer check out the New Zealand highlights on YouTube.
Tickets purchased online via the website.
5. Go underground to find Neptune's Grotto 😃
The Neptune’s Grotto is a subterranean Italian Diner under the Clam Bar on Young Street in Sydney. Neptune is the statute in the middle of the restaurant, shame he could not in attendance in the flesh.
The food is Northern Italian and the wines match perfectly. The menu is bang on with a range of antipasti, pastas such as ravioli ricotta, truffle & hazlenut and tagliatelle pork and veal ragu, and mains including squid, veal and pork meatballs and large veal cutlets.
The Grotto only opened in November 2024 but has made a big impression on the diners banking a 4.9 Google star rating.
Bookings are essential and can me made via the website.
Thanks for reading!
Cheers and beers,
