Cocktails, Music & Top Restaurants – Your Weekend Hitlist!
Ah the weekend is almost upon us and then we can forget about USA tariffs 🤯
Today I bring you a cracking restaurant and pub in Stanmore plus a recommendation to see a rock and roll hall of famer, some footy and a cool market to visit on Saturday.
Sixpenny has been around since March 2012 and is named after the Sixpence restaurants that operated in Australia in the late 1800s. However I must warn you the pricing is somewhat above sixpence.
The chefs offer all diners a seven course tasting menu priced at $250 per person. You can also choose from the following drink pairings; Sixpenny wines $180 per person, Sommeliers wines $240 per person, sake $190 per person or temperance (non-alcoholic) at $125 per person.
The chart topping Google 4.8 star rating is a big vote of approval. Nok’s review summarises it “… One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Every dish was beautifully crafted, perfectly balanced, and full of flavour. The attention to detail was next level, and the service was warm and professional.…”.
Located at 83 Percival Road, Stanmore and open from Wednesday to Sunday for dinner and also lunch on the weekend. Lunch is 12:00pm to mid afternoon and dinner 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Bookings are essential and can be made online via the website or call the team on 02 9572 6666
2. Beer and all the sports you love 🍺 🏅
Down the road from Sixpenny you will find the humming Salisbury Hotel at 118 Percival Road, Stanmore.
The pub is know in the inner west as one of the go to for sports as it has the big screens in the main bar. Fights and various football codes feature heavily in their sports line up 😃
There are lots to keep you coming back to the Salisbury including; Monday two for one main meals, Tuesday Poker and Pool Night and $20 chicken schnitzels, Wednesday $25 Surf & Turf, Thursday night trivia, Friday night $2 Sydney Rock oysters, badge draw and weekday happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00pm. On Sunday you can grab a $28 Sunday Roast and live music from 3:00 to 6:00pm.
Open 10:00 am to midnight seven days per week. Bookings for the restaurant can be done online or call the team on 02 9569 1013
3. Catch Todd Rundgren at The Factory Theatre 🎸
Todd Rundgren is appearing at The Factory Theatre in Marrickville tomorrow night.
Todd formed the band Nazz in the late '60s in Philadelphia. He then released solo albums, including 1972's Something / Anything and then founded the rock band Utopia, a group that drew on prog, power-pop and new wave. In 2021 Todd was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Todd is also a well-respected studio artist who's produced albums for The New York Dolls, Patti Smith, The Band, XTC, Badfinger, Psychedelic Furs and Meat Loaf. Todd has also continued to release solo albums, including ‘White Knight’ and ‘Space Force’ which featured guest spots from Sparks, Robyn, Joe Walsh, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, Davey Lane, Adrian Belew, Neil Finn, Rivers Cuomo, Rick Nielson and many more.
Doors open at 7:30pm, the support act Dave Lane kicks off at 8:00pm followed by Todd Rundgren at 9:00pm.

4. NRL: Panthers v Roosters 🏉
Panthers play the Roosters in Round Two the at CommBank Stadium in Parramatta tomorrow night from 8:00pm.
Penrith’s first home game of the season at Parramatta is one to see live. It’s also the first match back in Australia after the historic Vegas season opener. With new recruits the clash against the Roosters will be a great one.

5. An eclectic market in the heart of Glebe 😄
The Glebe Markets is located at Glebe Public School, Derby Place, Glebe Point Road, Glebe (so many Glebe’s 😆 )
The markets are open every Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm so if you are too busy this weekend, you go next weekend!
You‘ll find unique and wonderful things at these markets with an eclectic mix of stalls from vintage clothing, local fashion designers, hand-made jewellery, crafts by local artisans, second hand treasures, live music and fresh food.
A great place to shop for something unique for a loved one, family member or friend.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers and beers,
